Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format (DOC or DOCX).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text uses a 12-point font, employs italics (instead of underlining, except with URL addresses) and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Journal sections
- Articles:
Section devoted to the publication of original articles resulting from health research, as well as their interfaces with education. Articles must have between 3500 and 6500 words, including notes, tables and bibliographic references. Limit: 6 tables and 6 figures.
- Review articles: Section devoted to review articles that discuss and analyze academic publications in health sciences and education. Texts should must have between 4200 and 9000 words, including notes, tables and bibliographic references.
- Brief review: Section dedicated to brief analysis of cases and themes, comprising between 3000 and 700 words, including footnotes, tables and bibliographic references.
- Case report: Section devoted to publish case descriptions in light of themes and problems of interest to the scientific field. The contributions must have between 3000 and 5000 words.
- Experience report: Section devoted to publish experience descriptions in light of themes and problems of interest to the scientific field. The contributions must have between 3000 and 5000 words.
- Short communications: Section dedicated to short papers addressing research results in health sciences and education. The papers should have between 1000 and 2000 words.
- Interview: Section dedicated to interviews with researchers in health sciences addressing current topics for public policy and relevant issues on contemporary scientific debates.

1. General rules
1.1 The journal only accepts countributions via OJS. We do not accept contributions via email. If you have problems in the submission via OJS, please do not hesite to contact us: rev.he@baraodemaua.br
1.2 The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
1.3 Required elements: title, title, abstract, abstract, keywords and keywords.
1.4 Abstract with a maximum of 300 words and between 3 and 5 keywords. Mandatory elements in the abstract, which must be written in plain text: introduction, objectives, methodology, results and conclusion.
1.5 Manuscripts in Times New Roman font, size 12.
1.6 List of references according to ABNT NBR 6023 (examples below). Citations and references in the body of the text must be made in the author-data system.
1.7 Research related to human research and animal research must be approved by the Ethics Committee of the institution where the work was carried out.
1.8 Conflicts of interest must be declared at the time of submission.

2. Author guidelines
2.1 Space leading of 1.5.
2.2 Manuscripts must be in Microsoft Word format (DOC or DOCX extensions).
2.3 Left, right, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm.

3. Criteria for editorial and peer review
3.1 Adequacy of the contribution to the scope of the journal.
3.2 Compliance with formatting rules.
3.3 Clarity and quality of the writing.
3.4 Theoretical-methodological consistency and relevance of the research to the area.
3.5 Dialogue with the specialized bibliography.
3.6 For reviewers, we invite researchers who hold a Ph.D.
3.7 The final decision about a manuscript will depend on the editors.

4. Peer review process
Each original article published in the journal undergoes a double blind peer review process. The criteria for reviewers are as follows: (a) contribution of the article to the development of the escope of the research fields covered by the journal, (b) academic significance of the research, (c) expertise in existing literature, with appropriate use of theories and methods in relation to the research problem, and (d) clarity and coherence of argumentation and appropriate style of writing.

9. Authors copyright and publishing rights
9.1 This journal does not charge authors for publication.
9.2 Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication. The journal allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
9.3 For authors whose articles have been accepted: authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) after the publication of the text in Title: Health Sciences & Education, as it can lead to productive exchanges as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
