Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format (DOC or DOCX).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The text uses a 12-point font, employs italics (instead of underlining, except with URL addresses) and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

Author Guidelines

Journal sections
- Articles:
Section devoted to original articles resulting from academic research. The articles must contain between 5500 and 9000 words, including abstract, abctract, tables, notes and bibliography.
- Review-articles:
Section devoted to texts that discuss the state of the art of research fields and themes, focusing on the conceptual and methodological debates of bibliographic contributions. Contributions must have between 4500 and 8200 words, including abstract, abstract, notes and bibliography.
- Case reports:
Section devoted to succinct reports of experiences in field research, containing between 4000 and 7000 words.
- Reviews:
Section devoted to book reviews on books that were published no more than 7 years ago. Texts must have between 3000 and 6000 words, including notes and bibliography.
- Interviews:
Section devoted to the publication of interviews with researchers in the area of humanities and education, discussing their work and their perspectives for understanding contemporary society.
- Translations:
Section devoted to the translation of literary texts and essays in the area of humanities and education.

1. General rules
1.1 The journal only accepts countributions via OJS. We do not accept contributions via email. If you have problems in the submission via OJS, please do not hesite to contact us: rev.he@baraodemaua.br
1.2 The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
1.3 We do not accept articles with more then four authors
1.4 Before submission authors should make sure that derivative materials they use are not protected by copyright preventing their non-commercial publication. Authors are responsible for any respective copyright violations.

2. Author guidelines
2.1 Text line spacing: 1,5
2.2 We accept articles not exceeding 14.000 words and book reviews should not exceed 6.000 words (including references and foot notes)
2.3 Quotations should follow the author-date system (we do not use references in footnotes)
2.4 The abstracts should count on at least four keywords and not exceed 170 words.

3. Peer review process
Each original article published in the journal undergoes a double blind peer review process. The criteria for reviewers are as follows: (a) contribution of the article to the development of the escope of the research fields covered by the journal, (b) academic significance of the research, (c) expertise in existing literature, with appropriate use of theories and methods in relation to the research problem, and (d) clarity and coherence of argumentation and appropriate style of writing.

5. Authors copyright and publishing rights
5.1 This journal does not charge authors for publication.
5.2 Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication. The journal allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
5.3 For authors whose articles have been accepted: authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) after the publication of the text in Transitions, as it can lead to productive exchanges as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. The minimum personal data that are stored are: full name, email address, affiliation (department, and institution), and country of residence. Optionally, the user can provide Orcid, biography, and research interests. The data subjects have complete control of this data through their profile, and can request for it to be removed by contacting the editor-in-chief.
