Comparação entre a terapia de luz intensa pulsada e de LED azul no tratamento de acne: relato de caso
Abstract
Acne vulgaris is a common dermatosis in young people and the infection caused by the Cutibacterium acnes bacteria must be treated early to avoid scars and psychosocial repercussions. The increase in bacterial resistance and prolonged use of topical and systemic treatments generate the need for intervention with a therapeutic resource that accelerates the healing of lesions, with phototherapy being a therapeutic option for moderate cases. The objective of this work is to report a case of a 23-year-old female patient with moderate acne to compare the effects of blue LED and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) in the treatment of acne. Clinical, experimental, interventional, prospective longitudinal case study. The treatment was carried out in four weekly sessions with the application of blue LED on the right hemiface and LIP on the volunteer's left hemiface and evaluated by clinical photo documentation and by counting the number of inflammatory lesions. The initial assessment of acne using the inflammatory lesion counting system resulted in 25 inflammatory lesions and at the end of treatment it resulted in 14 lesions. The 56% difference resulting from the count demonstrated a moderate improvement (≥ 40-59%) in acne with a reduction in inflammation and improvement in the general appearance of the skin. It was concluded that the use of LIP was slightly more effective than blue LED in healing inflammatory lesions. Both types of phototherapy can be considered an effective and safe therapy for the management of acne.
