O uso do cateter central de inserção periférica Power PICC: revisão integrativa da literatura
Abstract
In clinical practice, the use of Power PICC encourages professionals to acquire training in puncture and maintenance of this device, in order to provide assistance with greater technological resources and greater safety. Power PICC, although visibly beneficial, is still little known in Brazil. This study sought to identify and analyze scientific publications on the use of the Power PICC catheter, through an integrative review covering pediatric and adult clients. The sample has 11 (100%) articles. Regarding the year of publication, in 2012 and 2014, there are 1 and (9.1%), respectively, in 2016 there are 2 articles (18.2%); in 2017, 3 articles (27.2%) and in 2020, the largest number of studies was concentrated, with 2 articles, 1 book and a monograph, totaling 4 (36.4%). Regarding location, Australia has 1 (9.1%); China 2 (18.2%). In the United States, 2 articles (18.2%) published; in Italy there are 3 articles (27.2%) and, in Brazil, 3 studies (27.2%). Of the topics discussed, detachment appears in 2 studies (18.2%); catheter-associated bloodstream infections (BSI) in 3 (27.2%), thrombotic events in 2 (18.2%), and Power PICC viability 3 (27.2%). Its results identified common aspects at an international level, notably bloodstream infection related to power PICC, effectiveness of power PICC in relation to other venous catheters, occurrence of thrombotic events and other complications and scientific reports of catheter displacement. The results also bring warnings regarding the risks of thrombosis, bloodstream infection and displacement related to the power PICC.
