Abstract

Most individuals infected with COVID-19 only experience mild symptoms, with approximately 15.0% of symptomatic patients requiring hospitalization. The objective of the study was to analyze the scientific evidence available in the literature regarding diagnoses and nursing care established for patients with COVID-19 in a hospital environment, from July 2019 to July 2023. An integrative review was carried out with scientific works selected from the Virtual Health Library data source. 07 articles were obtained, all with the participation of nurses and without homogeneity by the same author; the Journal of the School of Nursing of the University of São Paulo and the Brazilian Journal of Nursing published most of the selected studies (57.1%); regarding the research design, retrospective cohort and descriptive studies stand out. 71 nursing diagnoses were identified, the majority of which were real diagnoses (67.6%) and the 10 most frequent were chosen and their respective care measures were established. The most predominant diagnoses in the studied sample were concentrated at the psychobiological level, namely: impaired spontaneous ventilation, impaired gas exchange, ineffective breathing pattern, imbalanced nutrition: less than body requeriments, diarrhea, risk for pressure injury, risk for infection, hyperthermia, risk for unstable blood glucose and risk for shock. It is concluded that Brazilian scientific production regarding diagnoses and the respective nursing care established for patients affected with COVID-19 in a hospital environment is still growing, given that the coronavirus pandemic has only been around for a short time.
