Maquete como modelo didático no ensino superior do curso de Ciências Biológicas: biologia do desenvolvimento
Abstract
One of the biggest difficulties in higher education in Developmental Biology (BD) is the dynamics of structural evolution, which is usually done through a limited sequence of static images . In this sense, the construction of models is an important resource that favors the teaching-learning process, as it requires the active participation of the student, in addition to allowing the representation of the phenomenon. Our objective was to report a learning experience proposed in the BD discipline, through the construction of a model, to demonstrate the stages of embryological development of mammals, from cleavages to neurulation. The activity was carried out after a dialogued expository class on the subject in the discipline, from the higher course of Biological Sciences at the Centro Universitário Barão de Mauá. Then, the students created models in order to demonstrate the stages of embryonic development of mammals. Later, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the presentation was made through the BigBlueButton (BBB) platform, where six students gave an oral explanation. Each of the five students was responsible for creating a model that demonstrated one of the stages of embryonic development in mammals, and another student combined all the models to provide an overview of embryonic development. Therefore, didactic models can substantially help in the teaching and learning process of other biological content, as they allow students to have a three-dimensional and concrete view of biological concepts, different from the flat images of textbooks.
