Abstract

ABSTRACT:

INTRODUCTION: In March 2020, as of Decree No. 64,864, in-person classes were suspended in Educational Institutions throughout the State of São Paulo as a security measure and on a temporary and emergency basis for the prevention of contagion by SARS-Cov 2 (COVID-19) (LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO, 2020). According to EBC – Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) estimated that about 776.7 million children and young people would be affected and, due to the quarantine, would not be able to attend to any campus. OBJECTIVE: To report the experience of having remote classes during the nursing graduation, advantages and disadvantages perceived by the graduating. METHODOLOGY: Experience report. RESULTS: It is necessary to differentiate between remote and online teaching. Based on what was reported, it was possible to classify the disadvantages and advantages of utilizing remote classes, as advantages: Better time organization, being able for students to consult recorded classes at any time; possibility of continuity in the undergraduate's teaching and as a disadvantage the loss of interaction with the class, making it difficult to discuss topics covered in class; lack of attention during class; connection failures during class which may affect the stabilised class duration; problems in the class playback applications. CONCLUSION: The report on remote teaching and the advantages and disadvantages of it, allows a reflection about the teaching methods and how they affect the life and learning experience of the undergraduate.
