What is the scientific knowledge regarding the relationship between nutrition and quality of life in fibromyalgia patients?
Abstract
Abstract: Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized by chronic widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and psychological and physical exhaustion. Studies indicate that it affects women in the age group of 20 to 55 years, who are 2-4% of the adult population. This was an integrative review of the literature on the influence of diets on the quality of life of people with fibromyalgia, with an analysis of scientific studies within the period from 2017 to 2022. Exclusion criteria were based on: published in other languages, indexed in repeated databases, which preceded the year 2017 and which did not directly address the proposed theme. The following databases were used: Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS) and USA National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE/PubMed), in addition to these, the Cochrane Library and SciELO. The objective of this work is to obtain the available knowledge about the relationship between nutrition and quality of life in fibromyalgic patients, in order to build a range of data with high levels of evidence so that, in the future, the diet can be implemented in multiprofessional treatment from in-depth knowledge about the level of influence in the body of these patients.
