Reverse safena axial pattern flap used for reconstruction after sarcoma resection: a case report
Abstract
Soft tissue sarcomas are malignant neoplasms and have a high rate of local infiltration, and their treatment of choice is resection with a wide surgical margin. Reconstructive surgery has demonstrated excellent results for total defect covering after tumor exeresis. Therefore, it is essential to know their techniques in oncological surgeries. The present study aimed to report a case of neoplasia in the lateral region of the dog tarsus joint. Neoplasm resection and the use of an axial pattern flap of the reverse saphenous vein for surgical wound closure were instituted as treatment. The use of the flap associated with the lateral tissue of the recipient bed proved to be effective for covering the surgical wound after tumor excision, with minimal postoperative complications.
