Experiences of adaptation to the new teaching model of the Nursing course in a year of the COVID-19 pandemic
Abstract
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic required adaptations in the process of academic nursing education in face-to-face courses, due to periods of social distancing and restrictive measures. Objective: to describe the experiences of adapting to the new teaching model of the nursing course at a private university center in a year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: experience report based on adaptations made in the scope of teaching activities in the context of theoretical classes, practical and extension activities, supervised internship and the coordination of the nursing course - on-site, from March 16, 2020 to March 20 2021. Results: theoretical classes adapted the physical structure for the use of technological resources; practical activities were suspended, later resumed and returned first with the supervised internship; extension activities were developed and the course coordination. Conclusion: The experiences of the nursing course faculty at a private university center allowed them to experience new possibilities for teaching methodologies and extension activities, but also to face numerous challenges from the restructuring of classrooms, to the use of the nursing laboratory until the return of activities in the internship fields, providing for the health security of teachers and students. Such experiences, although permeated by insecurity, fear and anxieties, were the result of efforts on the part of teachers and support from the course coordination to ensure the continuity of the pace of activities and excellence in teaching for students.
