Avaliação da eficácia do Ruminar Descarte Zero® na redução da contagem de células somáticas em bovinos de leite
Abstract
Subclinical mastitis is one of the main causes of economic losses in dairy cattle production, and somatic cell count (SCC) is an important indicator of this condition. Considering the increasing demand for foods free from antimicrobial residues, alternatives such as probiotics have been evaluated to support udder health. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the product Ruminar Descarte Zero® in reducing SCC in dairy cattle. Sixteen lactating cows were used and allocated to a test group (TG), which received Ruminar Descarte Zero®, and a control group (CG). Individual SCC was measured on day 0 and 49 days after the last administration of the product. In the TG, SCC decreased in all cows, with a 47.84% reduction in total group SCC, whereas in the CG there was an increase of 2.97%. It is concluded that Ruminar Descarte Zero® was effective in reducing SCC, representing an auxiliary tool in the control of subclinical mastitis and in the improvement of milk quality.
