Administração de medicamentos via intramuscular de acordo com a técnica de Hochstetter (ventroglútea): revisão bibliográfica
Abstract
Intramuscular injection is an important procedure in the field of health care. Administering medications requires an understanding of health care legal aspects, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pathophysiology, and human anatomy. However, there are reports of complications from intramuscular injections. This study aimed to analyze in the scientific literature the safety of the intramuscular drug administration technique using the gluteus medius muscle in its anterior and posterior parts, relating the anatomy of the muscle with adverse events resulting from the application. Bibliographical research was carried out, being chosen 10 articles that contained as descriptors "intramuscular injection" and "nursing", and books for identification of the anatomical aspects of the chosen muscle and important bone repairs for the delimitation of the adequate place and description of the procedure of the application of the injection intramuscular in addition to raising the most common complications when this route of administration is used. In this study, we concluded that there is a scarcity of the subject, which comes from graduation, extending to professional life, and that the anterior part of the gluteus medius muscle must be the main choice for intramuscular drug administration because it is far from major nerves and important blood vessels, which makes injections safe for both the professional and, mainly, the patient.
