Da violência contra a mulher cometida por parceiro íntimo: fatores de risco e consequências à saúde e à vida das vítimas
Abstract
Violence against women has long been the subject of discussion in various national sectors and at the United Nations (UN), especially at the World Health Organization (WHO), despite the great difficulty that society has in effectively combating it. The problem involves social, political and cultural challenges, among many others, and despite its enormous seriousness and the various efforts to combat it, the numbers of aggressions have only increased. The aim of this study was to analyze data on the prevalence of violence against women, especially intimate partner violence, in order to identify its risk factors, causes and consequences. To achieve this goal, descriptive research was conducted based on surveys conducted by the World Health Organization and partners, as well as a literature review and data from national sources. The results show that very little progress has been made in effectively preventing episodes of violence against women and that its real consequences go beyond the victim herself, corresponding to a matrix of incontinent generation of various other forms of violence, with high personal, family and social costs.
