Two diagnoses on democracy
Abstract
The current academic debate on democracy has been mobilizing the contribution of many political theorists and appraisals on the long-term stability of democracy in light of the sociocultural and economic transformations of contemporary society. This article considers the recent books of Charles Taylor (which appeared in 2019) and Adam Przeworski (published in 2020) as two intellectual efforts that open up theoretical perspectives to discuss the impasses of liberal democracies intertwined with the crisis of political trust and political representation.
